Tap Shoes and Joe

You can't tell from the picture, but this is an image of a dear old man named Joe.

Joe is a regular on the Scottsdale karaoke circuit. Famous for his 40 year old song book, swaggering walk and tap dancing shoes, he has unknowningly watched me and my karaoke skills grow and develop to the mediocre level they are right now.

When I was fresh out of college, he was a presence at Cook and Jacks with his renditions of "New York, New York." At the same time he was slaying it at the grape vine with "Dancing Queen." And now, tonight, I see him at Ernie's singing "I just can't help falling in love" by my main man (and Dopelganger) Elvis.

Now if I were a legitimate journalist, I'd approach him for a history lesson and a small biography for the town rag. And if anyone ever does actually find out about Joe, please send me some details. But for now it seems that as the days count down to my move to Denver (6 days now), I have finally found something about Scottsdale I'm going to miss.
